Big Bear Lake, Calif. - Authorities said late Tuesday night that a body had not been recovered from a burned cabin where a fugitive ex-cop is believed to have been in a standoff with sheriff's deputies.
Authorities said the cabin is still too hot to enter, but they believe that Christopher Dorner was inside when the fire started and did not make it out.
The statement conflicts with earlier reports indicating that a body had been removed.
Dorner has been on the run since police say he launched a campaign to exact revenge against the Los Angeles Police Department for his firing.
He's accused of killing three people before leading police on a seven-day manhunt.
The search led to the Big Bear area of the San Bernardino National Forest, where it's believed Dorner was involved in a shootout with law enforcement killing one deputy and injuring another.
The injured deputy is expected to recover.
Authorities remained at the scene of the cabin and expected to continue their investigation through the night.
