Webster, N.Y. - Xerox is laying off some of its employees Wednesday.
The company will not disclose how many people are losing their jobs. A spokesperson said the layoff will impact its product research and engineering departments. Some of the cuts will impact employees in Webster, but will also take place at Xerox locations around the world.
"We do not disclose specific numbers," said Xerox spokesperson Bill McKee. "I can say while every position affected is significant, the numbers are relatively small in relationship to our 140,000 global employees."
The job cuts are part of first quarter restructuring announced in Xerox's fourth quarter earnings report.
McKee said the cuts will help Xerox manage costs and drive operational improvements across the company.
