Rochester, N.Y. – A federal class action lawsuit was filed this week against the manager of Frontier Field. Seven current and former workers claim Jim LeBeau didn’t pay them overtime, as required by law. LeBeau also produces the Lilac Festival and Monroe County Air Show.
The workers claim they worked more than 40 hours per week at the Lilac Festival, Air Show and stadium and did not get paid time and a half for overtime. One worker claimed he worked more than 100 hours in one week during the Lilac Festival.
LeBeau’s contract for the Lilac Festival expired and the county is reviewing proposals from vendors. It’s not clear if LeBeau, who has run the festival for more than a decade, submitted a proposal.
The Democrat and Chronicle reported earlier this year some workers were not happy they allegedly had to perform work on Lebeau’s property.
LeBeau said by email he had not seen the lawsuit yet. His attorney also hadn’t seen the lawsuit and said there would be no comment. The attorney would not say if LeBeau is under investigation by any state or federal agency for employment issues.
