Meth Lab Bust In Home Where 12-Year-Old Lived

Lindley, N.Y. – Two town residents were arrested Sunday night because police say they were operating a methamphetamine lab in their home while a 12-year-old was present.

Brian S. Smith, 45, and Collete M. Smith, age 43, were charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, and endangering the welfare of a child--in addition to reckless endangerment.

It started with a call to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office from an unknown female asking for help--around 10 p.m. Sunday.

When Deputy Sheriffs and NYS Troopers arrived, they found evidence suggesting an active meth lab in the home on Lindley Road.

Child Protective Services has custody of the 12-year-old now, and both Smiths were arraigned and remanded to Steuben County Jail on $25,000cash/$50,000 property bail.

Investigation into the suspected meth lab continues.
