(Franklin, N.Y)- A Pittsford teen is dead after the car she was riding in collided head on with an SUV.
State Police say it happened just before noon on Friday on State Route 3 in the town of Franklin.
Police say Abigail E. Pruitt, 19, of Pittsford was a passenger in the car, while Vincent E. Monty, 19, of Plattsburgh was the driver. The two were coming from Paul Smiths College, where they both attend, and were traveling eastbound towards Plattsburgh when Monty's vehicle collided head on with an SUV that was traveling westbound.
Pruitt was prounounced dead at the scene. Monty was taken to the hospital with head and chest injuries.
The Franklin County Coroner performed on autopsy on Pruitt and determined that she died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries due to the accident.
The cause of the accident in unknown. The State Police are continuing to investigate and are asking that if anyone may have witnessed the accident or have any information about it, to contact the New York State Police in Ray Brook at 518-897-2000.
