Rochester, N.Y.- Rochester Police arrested a registered level 3 sex offender they say forced his way into a neighbor’s home and tried to rape a woman inside.

Leonard James, 43, is charged with first-degree attempted rape, first-degree attempted criminal sex act, first-degree sex abuse, and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Police say James forced his way into a neighbor’s home and physically accosted the female victim.

Authorities say a neighbor startled the suspect and he ran off before the attack could continue.

James was arrested Tuesday.

Police say they’re looking for any other possible victims of rape or attempted rape by James.  Citizens are asked to call the Rochester Police Departments Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7157.
