Rochester, N.Y.- Not just made in America, but rather, made in Rochester.

Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing to have the Olympic uniforms worn by American athletes to be made in Rochester.

As part of ABC’s Made In America series, the news program reported this week that that the red, white and blue clothing designed by Ralph Lauren were made in China.  The findings prompted outrage from viewers as well as several lawmakers including Schumer.

Friday, Senator Schumer said he’s talked to Rochester-based clothing manufacturer Hickey Freeman to re-make the uniforms.

"The Olympic Committee ought to do what Harry Reid said, take the existing suits, put them in a big pile and burn them, hire Hickey Freeman," Senator Schumer said. "They’ll do a great job and our athletes will be proud to wear the red, white and blue, made in America, made in Rochester."

Schumer says Hickey Freeman said they can likely turn the order around just in time for the Olympics. The games are two weeks away.

So far, the company hasn't heard a response from the Olympic Committee.

The company is already making Olympic apparel for the broadcasters.
