Henrietta, N.Y. – Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 29-year-old man accused of hitting a police deputy with his dad’s car and then taking off.

Police say just before 8 a.m. a deputy was flagged down by the father of Stephon Wolde-Tinsaye, at their home in Henrietta.  Authorities say Wolde-Tinsaye was attempting to take his father's vehicle without permission.  A door of the vehicle was open while the deputy questioned him. Police say he ignored orders to stop and backed up. The open door struck the deputy knocking her to the ground. Her injuries were minor.

Police say the suspect drove the vehicle until it became wedged between two other vehicles
in the area of Jefferson Road and Hylan Drive.

Wolde-Tinsaye was arrested.

Police say earlier Tuesday morning, Wolde-Tinsaye stole a Best Western shuttle bus that was parked at the Best Western on Jefferson Road and then tried to rob a woman in the parking lot of the Wilson Farms located on East River Road. No one was hurt.

He’s facing multiple charges including second-degree assault and attempted robbery.
