Rochester, N.Y. -- The man who killed three people after crashing his boat into the Summerville Pier last June was sentenced Wednesday to four to twelve years in prison.

Howard Eddy was drunk and speeding when he crashed, killing Cori Mitchell, Michele Ciaccia, and Jennifer Leasure. Two others were injured.

He interrupted the judge, prosecutor and victims' families numerous times at his sentencing to say he is sorry.

“Nothing he can say can ever bring my husband back, or Jennifer or Michele. Our lives are shattered forever,” said Joyce Mitchell, whose husband was killed in the crash.

Monroe County Judge Alex Renzi reminded Eddy that he had a 2003 conviction for drunk driving and told him he was an accident waiting to happen.

Eddy's attorney said he's getting alcohol counseling and his life has changed forever.

Eddy pleaded guilty to manslaughter and boating while intoxicated last month. Prosecutors said the families of the victims did not want to be put through a trial.
