Rochester, N.Y. – Even if you just stepped outside for a second, you know Saturday did not feel like January.
“It's great, nice day,” said Gary Mason, who was visiting the Seneca Park Zoo with his granddaughters.
Rochester hit a record high of 58 degrees; the average temperature for Saturday is 32-degrees. It’s just a brief break from the cold snowy weather.
“We love winter, we love the snow and it's been great playing outside and sledding,” said Michael Rood, who was visiting the zoo with his family, “but it's great to get outside today, too.”
Getting outside is exactly what a puppy, Max, seemed happy to do, as he ran down the shoreline path at Durand Eastman Park.
“He's having a great day,” said Stella Stubbs, Max’s owner. “He was out on the beach running around, and he enjoyed the water. It's so nice out.”
The nice weather brought Karen and Alton Volanth from Penfield to the shoreline.
“What a treat in the middle of winter to be able to come out and walk along the shore,” said Karen Volanth.
“I'll take this as much as we can get of it,” said Alton Volanth.
For some, the unseasonable weather meant washing away the beginning of winter.
“I think a lot of times they want to run out of their house jump in their car and go and don't really take the time to look at their car,” said Vincent Allen, owner of Evergreen Car Wash, “and now they take a second to because it's not so cold out there.”
Days like these keep the washers washing and dryers drying at Evergreen Car Wash, said Allen.
“It's been so crummy for the past couple of weeks, so we're definitely busy because of that,” he said.
