Youth Celebration to Be Held in Memory of 12-Year-Old Boy

Brighton, N.Y. – Funeral services are set for Tyler Kopp, the 12-year-old boy from Brighton who died after a lacrosse ball hit him in the chest last week.

Tyler was in intensive care at Strong, after being hit by a ball while playing a game at Total Sports Experience in Gates, around 6 p.m. Thursday, February 2. He passed away Monday night.

According to the Brighton School District website, calling hours to celebrate Tyler's life will be held Thursday, February 9, from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel, 2305 Monroe Avenue.


A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street.


On Monday, February 13, a youth-oriented celebration of Tyler's life for the various school and sports communities affected by his passing will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Kidera Gymnasium at the Otto A. Shults Community Center on the campus of Nazareth College.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Brighton Lacrosse Club.
