(ABC) - Hostess says it will liquidate its business if striking union workers do not return by 5 p.m. Thursday.
The maker of the popular Twinkie snack says it cannot afford the ongoing strike. The company is trying to reorganize after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January.
Workers across the country are on strike against an 8 percent across-the-board pay cut set for next year.
Hostess Merita brands has already closed three bakeries since the strike began last week.
Liquidation of the company would mean about 18,000 workers would lose their jobs, including workers at a Henrietta bakery.
The union represents about 5,000 of the company's workers.
This isn't the first time Hostess has faced financial troubles. The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2004 and 2009 as well.
