Rochester, N.Y./Tokyo - Today millions of people lined up at Apple stores.

In Victor, 13WHAM’s Evan Dawson is spending the morning with people at Eastview Mall, where the iPhone store opened at 8 a.m.

He says one customer showed up at 5:30 Thursday night to insure being first in line. He also noted that everyone waiting in line was courteous and polite.

Ten other stores in the Rochester and Buffalo area are selling the new iPhones.

In Hong Kong, the first customers chanted "iPhone 5!" as they were greeted by Apple staffers who escorted them through the front door.

The phone has a larger screen and is lighter than its predecessors.

Customers in Britain, Canada, France and Germany will also see the phone released today. In all, analysts estimate Apple will ship as many as 10 million of the new iPhones by the end of September.
