Rochester, N.Y. - Monroe County has activated its 24-hour emergency operations center, where staff will coordinate and respond to any damage related to what's left of Hurricane Sandy.
The storm is expected to reach the Rochester area Monday afternoon.
County Executive Maggie Brooks says her main concern is the wind, which could lead to downed power lines and tree branches.
Widespread flooding is not expected, but lakeshore residents have been alerted by 911 that they could be impacted by rising waters. The county is offering sandbags to lakeshore towns, but only Webster requested 200 sandbags.
"The goal here is to make sure we're not overreacting, but we are all prepared and we are taking every precaution that we can," Brooks said.
The county is urging people to clear storm drains and leaves from the side of roads.
