Penfield, N.Y. - Eleven pit bull puppies are being cared for after they were left in the entryway of the Penfield Veterinary Hospital Monday evening.
Aside from being cold, the litter was in good condition, according to Dr. Kirsten Mueller, the Veterinarian who treated them.
Mueller said the umbilical cords were still attached and she believes that they were only a day or two old at the time.
The litter was later transferred to
Pitty Love Rescue, an animal rescue group.
"We will raise them until they are happy, healthy, well socialized puppies," said Sarah Northrop of Pitty Love Rescue.
A group of about 15 volunteers has been working in shifts to care for the puppies.
Meanwhile, Lollypop Farm is investigating the matter and trying to find out who dropped the animals at the hospital.
"It's not really the right thing to do," said Adrienne McHargue, Director of Communications for Lollypop Farm. "If you can't care for an animal, give Lollypop Farm a call, give Rochester Animal Services a call or ask family or friends for help."
