Rochester, N.Y. – Calling it her second hardest-fought campaign, Rep. Louise Slaughter won election to the newly drawn 25th Congressional District over Republican Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks.

Here are the results, with 100% of precincts reporting:
SLAUGHTER: 57%
BROOKS: 43%

Slaughter, a Democrat, will enter her 14th term in the House of Representatives. She thanked her supporters and volunteers for helping her win this election and said she will get right to work in Washington.

Slaughter joked about the cane she uses after breaking her leg in the spring.

Some critics thought the injury would sideline the Congresswoman or at least slow her down. Instead, she was campaigning and running her district from her hospital room.

After winning the election Slaughter joked on stage: "I wish I had my cane up here, because I want to raise some cane!"

Brooks has been Monroe County Executive since 2004. She called Slaughter after the final results were in to concede the race, and congratulate the Congresswoman.

Slaughter has been in Congress since 1986.
