Webster, N.Y. - Access to Webster Schroeder High School was limited Wednesday as a safety precaution while police investigated threatening phone calls made to four high school students by another student who was not in school Wednesday.

Webster Police and School Officials told 13WHAM News the school was in "lockout" for about an hour while police searched for that student. He was found a few miles from the school, interviewed and taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Students were allowed to go to class and walk the hallways, but those leaving the building for early dismissal were escorted to their cars. Police and security officers also made sure all entrances to the building were secure.

A district spokesperson said students were never in any danger, but some like, Katie Vallone said it was a little frightening. "It was scary to know that someone might be outside who isn't supposed to be there," she said.

Vallone said the school and police handled the situation well. She fielded messages from her worried parents who wanted to make sure she was okay. She told them she was safe, but had to stay in school.

Other parents like Darren Sparks were concerned the school didn't call them to let them know about the extra security or the lockout. "It is a little disturbing that parents weren't made aware of it," Sparks said.

After the student was found, the lockout was lifted and students were dismissed as scheduled from school.
