Virginia – Some inmates at the Richmond City Jail recently traded their yellow jumpsuits for real suits for a very special occasion.
The men, behind bars for crimes like drug distribution and weapons charges, got a chance to see their kids at a father-daughter dance.
The inmates admit they’ve made mistakes, but they said it’s unfair that their kids must also pay the price.
It’s a thought that fills them with regret, but at the same time hope that they can become father figures for their kids again.
The father-daughter dance program is now in its second year at the jail. Correction officers said that it has helped inspire many inmates to change their ways.
