Irondequoit, N.Y. – 13WHAM News was given a first look into the Medley Centre after pipes burst in the mall back in January.

Parts of the building are flooded, ceilings are caving in and it appears mold is growing.

According to Irondequoit Town Supervisor Adam Bello, though the affected areas are closed to the public, it is a safety concern.

Bello said it appears the property’s owner has no plans to put any investment into the property.

“Nobody would like to see something happen on that property more than me,” said Bello. “But I’m also not going to have taxpayers on the hook to continue subsidizing something that, not only is not progressing, but is deteriorating before our eyes."

Bello said the town has issued a number of code violations to mall owner Scott Congel. 13WHAM News emailed Congel for comment, but has not heard back.
