Changes made at dangerous traffic intersection

Bethany, N.Y. - A couple who fought for improved safety at a Genesee County intersection won't lose their home after all.
Instead of putting a round-about traffic circle at the intersection of Route 20 and East Road in Bethany, the New York State Department of Transportation will install a flashing light to warn drivers. There will also be an LED-lit stop sign.
Under the original plan, the Douglas family's home would have been knocked down.
Ironically, the Douglases fought for the change after more than 30 crashes at the intersection occurred over a 15 year time period.
“It was nice to see a compromise,” said Thomas Douglas. “It seemed like a much better situation."
Exactly when the changes will be made is not known yet.
