DEC: Accidental shootings at all-time low

Albany, N.Y. -- The number of accidental shootings involving hunters has plummeted to its lowest level on record, according to the New York State Department for Environmental Conservation.
Data from 2013 showed there were 19 accidental hunting-related shootings in the state during the year. Two of them were fatal.
The number of total shootings the last five years is down more than 70 percent from the 1960s.
Officials cited increased safety consciousness among hunters and sportsmen in the state.
