Darien Center, N.Y. - Darien Lake Amusement Park will pay more than $1 million to the family of an Iraq war veteran who died after falling out of a rollercoaster in 2011.

A settlement was recently reached in federal court on behalf of James Hackemer, according to the Buffalo News.

Hackemer's two young daughters will be the primary beneficiaries of the settlement.

Hackemer was a double amputee who died in July 2011 after falling from the "Ride of Steel" rollercoaster at the theme park.
