Ford is issuing a recall of 8266 2013 Ford Escape crossovers for improperly-installed carpet padding around the center console, according to Motor Trend.
The improperly-installed padding could potentially cause drivers to hit the side of the brake pedal with their foot when transferring their foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal, increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash.
Ford says it will contact affected owners and remove and replace the faulty carpet padding and left-side console trim panel.
