Oswego, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say speed and alcohol may have combined in a deadly crash that claimed the lives of three young men and injured two others.
City of Oswego police say a mid-sized sedan driven by 25-year-old Robert Senke slammed into a utility pole Tuesday night near the Oswego Speedway in the central New York city.
The impact ejected several of the car's occupants from the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation shows all the men had been drinking before the crash and police say the car may have been speeding.
Besides Senke, 24-year-old Justin Purdy and 28-year-old Antonio Mendez were killed. Injured were 26-year-old Donald Odin and 22-year-old Jeremy Tassie, both of whom were hospitalized and are expected to recover. All the men were from Oswego.
