Schroon, N.Y. - Police say two people have died in separate snowmobile accidents this weekend in the Adirondacks. State police say 21-year-old Benjamin Round of Warrensburg died in a snowmobile crash Sunday on Schroon Lake when his sled hit an ice ridge.
John Ivanov, 47, hit a cement abutment in Savannah Sunday evening, went airborne, then fell 30 feet. He was knocked unconscious when he landed on a frozen creek bed, but called 911 when he awoke. He was taken to Strong by Mercy Flight, and is now in stable condition.
Deputies believe he suffers from a medical condition which may have contributed to the accident.
Police in the Town of Webb say 22-year-old Nicole Robertello of Oriskany died when her snowmobile became submerged Saturday night in open water in the Fulton Chain of Lakes.
