East Rochester, N.Y. -- An 10-year-old hit a pedestrian and a parked car after his mother left him alone in the car with the keys.

This happened Tuesday in the Country Club Plaza.

Police say the child took the keys from the driver's side seat and started the car.

The boy hit a man trying to stop the car, sideswiped another car and hit a pole before eventually stopping.

Donna Launonen works in the plaza and witnessed the crash.  She tells 13WHAM, "All of a sudden I heard this loud, really loud bang--I knew somebody had probably hit one of the posts."

The man who was hit had back injuries, but is expected to be okay.

Police have not released the names of anyone involved. They say charges are expected to be filed against the boy's mother.
