Rochester, N.Y.- An 85-year-old woman took a daring descent down one of Rochester’s tallest buildings Friday to raise money for the Boy Scouts.
Enes Monks is the oldest person to rappel down the First Federal Plaza for the annual 21 Stories for Scouts event.
Money raised from the event supports urban scouting programs, including the 40 afterschool programs run in Rochester schools.
Monks’ boss is very involved in the program and asked for a volunteer from his company to rappel 309 feet.
She says she jumped at the chance and enjoyed the view on her way down.
“Glad I’ve tried and I’m glad I succeeded,” said Monks. “It’s one more thing to mark off my bucket list.”
