Syracuse, N.Y. - Budget cuts have hit school districts across the state hard, forcing them to make tough cuts.
One school near Syracuse received help from a celebrity.
The West Genesee School District needed about $75,000 to save its modified sports program.
Alec Baldwin, whose sister and nephews live in the district, happened to be in town and heard the news.
“Now they talk about whole groups of kids…not going to have this sport or that sport,” Baldwin said. “What you get on the menu in a public school now has shrunk dramatically.”
Baldwin donated $25,000 to the cause, to help parents reach their August 1 deadline.
