Storrs, C.T. - A new study says some children might be able to grow out of autism.
Researchers at the University of Connecticut studied 34 school-age children and young adults who had been diagnosed with autism, but no longer show any signs of it.
Questions remain over the quality of their original diagnoses.
Similar studies in the past have been inconclusive.
Researchers say the findings could demonstrate a wide range of possible outcomes for people diagnosed with autism, but say more research is needed.
