Rochester, N.Y.--Bivona Child Advocacy Center handles hundreds of sexual abuse cases involving children each year.
The center cannot say whether it did so for victims in the former Greece school bus monitor case, but its director says that case highlights the need to discuss sexual abuse.
"It's hard to imagine whether it's a bus driver, bus monitor, someone at the church, a coach, a parent, a family friend that could molest children. That happens all the time," said Mary Whittier, Executive Director of Bivona.
According to Whittier, fewer than one in ten children will ever admit that they've been sexually abused. When highly publicized cases arise, Whittier says it is important for parents to take the opportunity to talk to their kids.
"Do it in context. What you don't want to do is have the child come home one day, you come home and you're all upset and you give them the third degree about asking all of these questions," said Whittier.
