Across New York State yogurt production is becoming a larger piece of the state’s food processing economy.  Gov. Andrew Cuomo was on-hand for Thursday’s announcement and said the state currently has 49 yogurt manufacturing plants producing more than a half-billion pounds of yogurt each year.  That’s up 60% in the last six years and the state welcomes the challenges that come with businesses choosing to plant their roots in New York.

"We're making so much yogurt that we have to make sure we have the milk supply to keep up with the yogurt production," Gov. Cuomo said.  "We also have our own business interest in seeing Yogurt do well because this state has made a significant investment in time, energy, and resources in Yogurt.  So we believe in the Yogurt story and we've invested in the Yogurt story.”
