Irondequoit, N.Y. - A $14 million improvement project for the Bay Bridge in Irondequoit will lead to lane closures later this month.
The New York Department of Transportation announced the westbound lanes of the bridge will be closed from June 22-24. The closure will begin that Friday evening at 8:00. Detours will be posted.
The work will include repairs to concrete piers. Crews will also paint the structural steel and replace the bridge joint systems.
"We appreciate the public's patience with this construction project and ask that motorists stay informed about its progress so that they can plan their trips accordingly," NYSDOT Regional Director Bob Traver said. "Drivers should consider alternative routes to avoid traffic delays when the bridge is closed and plan where and when they'll travel to minimize inconvenience."

The project is slated to be complete by November.
