Rochester, N.Y. - A female bicyclist suffered minor injuries when she was hit by a Rochester Police cruiser Monday night.

The collision happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lyell Avenue and Dewey Avenue.

Police said the woman, who was in her 40s, was illegally riding on the sidewalk when she continued bicycling against a red light. Investigators said the officer could not stop in time, and clipped the back wheel of the woman's bicycle.

According to police, the woman suffered no visible injuries, but complained of pain and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.

The woman was issued two citations. Police said a third citation will be issued once the investigation is complete.
