Rochester, N.Y. - Former President Bill Clinton plans to stop in Rochester Friday to rally voters to support Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and Congresswoman Kathy Hochul.

The rally will be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center Friday afternoon.

In a statement Tuesday, Rep. Louise Slaughter said she and President Clinton have worked closely together on a number of landmark initiatives.

“I’m excited to welcome my friend President Clinton to Rochester and Monroe County,” said Slaughter. “His visit will remind voters that the way to economic prosperity and a balanced budget is through lifting up the middle class and providing opportunity to all, not handing out massive tax breaks for those at the top and hoping it works out for the rest of us. That’s the choice in this election, and I’m certain that President Clinton will make that choice very clear on Friday.”

Doors for the event will open at 3:30 p.m.

According to Syracuse.com, Clinton is also expected in Syracuse to stump for Democratic congressional candidate Dan Maffei.

Clinton, whose Democratic National Convention speech this summer provided a boost for President Barack Obama, will loan his popular appeal to the Maffei campaign at a rally open to the public. The rally will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Clinton made a similar campaign stop for Maffei - 2 years ago - at the former state police hangar at the airport.
