Bishop Emeritus Matthew Clark has only been retired a few months. He is still saying mass and presiding over weddings, funerals and other duties.
But, he has also enjoyed time reading and praying. Now, he may also find something else to do in his spare time.
The retired Bishop laughed when we told him the Pope is now tweeting. "He's way ahead of me...I think it's great, he is inspiring me with his leadership in this area," Clark said.
When we asked him if this would inspire him enough to try Twitter, he said, "He encourages me. I'm serious, I wouldn't know how to tweet, I really don't. I probably should. His initiative will lead me to find how to do it. That's one of the ways I can use my extra time in retirement."
Bishop Emeritus Clark said the Diocese embraced social media awhile ago after realizing it was the best way to get the message out to the people. He calls it an
"essential tool."
Clark admits he feels a little behind the times, but now that the Pontiff is tweeting, he just might give it a try.
