Batavia, N.Y. – Fire investigators are looking into whether an oxygen bottle was involved in an explosion that killed a woman in her Batavia home.

A fire broke out at an apartment house at 132 State Street about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews discovered a body in the home, later identified as Mary E. Pawlukiewicz, 57.

Fire officials say the victim was a smoker and had been on oxygen for the past several years.

Authorities say several oxygen bottles were found inside the apartment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

People living in two of the other apartments were not home at the time of the fire.
