Rochester, N.Y. - A boy rescued from the Erie Canal on Wednesday was released from Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday.

Sam Clanton, 8, had been in guarded condition at one point, after a stroller he was riding in rolled into the Erie Canal. His sister, Selah Clanton, 8, remains in guarded condition. Their father, Joe Clanton, was treated and released.

Joe Clanton said he turned away from the stroller for a second and the children, who were strapped inside, plunged into the canal.

Three University of Rochester Medical Center students helped pull them from the water.
