Macedon, N.Y. - Two bridges are now closed to traffic in Macedon.
The Canandaigua Road Bridge closed over two years ago and the North Wayneport Road Bridge two weeks ago.
The North Wayneport Road Bridge is expected to take around four months to repair.
“It's somewhat inconvenient, there's no doubt about it,” said Macedon resident Michael Melfi.
Melfi drove across the Wayneport Road Bridge daily before it closed.
“These guys are here early and they want to get their job done and I hope it continues,” said Melfi.
First responders prepared and planned for the closure.
EMS for the Town of Macedon made specific changes.
“We're now staging ambulances on the other side of the canal at Macedon Center Fire Department,” said Paul Harkness, Director of EMS for the Town of Macedon.
The ambulance is staged there during high peak hours from 7:00 P.M. to 6 A.M.
Response time for the Macedon Police Department has increased by two minutes.
But, the department has made adjustments.
“When we have multiple officers working, we make sure that one is always on the north side and one is on the south side just to expedite response times,” said Macedon Police Chief John Colella.
The $992,000 project to repair North Wayneport Road Bridge is scheduled to be completed in June.
