Brighton, N.Y. - When he saw three strangers pull into a neighbor’s drive on Friday, break in and begin removing items from the house, a Brighton resident called 911.

He gave police enough information to identify the vehicle. The police gave chase, but the vehicle would not stop.

When the vehicle with the three got stopped in a traffic jam at Elmwood and South Avenues, the suspects jumped out and ran—and the police went after them. They were found in short order and taken into custody.

A large quantity of stolen items was recovered from their vehicle.

Jimmie D. Rutley, 33; Willis R. Knight, 24; and Jerrod J. Braithwaite, 27; of Rochester -- are all charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief -- all felonies.

They were arraigned in Brighton Town court.

Rutley and Braithwaite were held on no bail due to predicate felon status, and bail was set at $25,000/$50,000 bond, for Knight.
