Brockport, N.Y.- The mayor of Brockport has filed a notice of claim against the village about her March 9 arrest.
Maria Connie Castaneda is facing charges of official misconduct and falsifying business records.
In her notice of claim filed Monday, Castaneda says the Village of Brockport “falsely, maliciously, unlawfully, for a purpose other than to see the interests of justice served, and without jurisdiction, warrant, consent or probable cause, accused, summonsed, arrested and prosecuted” her when she was arrested.
She also claims the village engaged in an “abuse of process.”
Castaneda was arrested by her own police department and accused of illegally renting two bedrooms in her home to two college students.
