Greece, N.Y. - Greece Police are investigating a string of residential burglaries in a neighborhood off of Dewey Avenue.  Over the past couple of months, theives targeted more then a dozen homes.

Ann Marron’s home was one of 10-15 in the area of Latta to Britton Roads, and Dewey Avenue toward the city that have been burglarized.

“When I walked in, I stepped on glass in my kitchen," Marron said. "It was dark, and I realized it was the window, so I backed out of my house and called 911.”

Greece Police said the burglaries are mostly happening during the day when no one is home.  Police said smaller items like jewelry, and small electronics are being taken from the homes.

“There is a noticeable increase to us,” said Captain Brian Uhrmacher, of the Greece Police Department.  “We're advising residents make sure your doors and windows are secured when you're leaving the house, and if you have an alarm system making sure you're using it. If you're gone from your residence for an extended period of time, you may want to let your neighbors know that.”

Since being burglarized, Marron has put in an alarm system.  She's also reaching out to her neighbors to start a neighborhood watch group, so others don't also become victims.
