Rochester & Hamlin, N.Y. --- On June 5, 2011 a crash at the intersection of Church and Lake Roads in Hamlin killed Danielle Gowanlock, 21, of Holley.
Fourteen months later the driver of the car Gowanlock was riding in is charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Manslaughter, Vehicular Manslaughter, Assault, Vehicular Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.
Authorities suspect Jacob Stevens, now 21, of being under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash.
Stevens was arrested last week and an eight-count indictment accuses him of crimes that carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
Stevens and Gowanlock were dating at the time of the crash.
At the time of the crash investigators stated that Stevens ran a stop sign and was broadsided by another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, Rebecca Maynard suffered life-altering injuries according to the prosecutor now handling the case.
