Rochester, N.Y. -- Michele Labigan says it's the first time she hasn't felt safe in her own home.
Labigan has lived on the same street in Charlotte for more than 20 years. In the last week, there have been three homes burglarized, including one right next door.
"It's scary, and very intrusive and invading your space and privacy." Labigan said. She said people need to lock windows and doors and watch out for each other.
"I don't think it matters where you live, you need to be mindful and careful."
Rochester Police say they have increased patrols in the area and are working with neighborhood groups to alert and educate residents.
The Charlotte Neighborhood Association will talk more to residents about how they can protect their homes and watch out for one another at a meeting next Monday at the Roger Robach Center.
Rochester Police are also working with Greece Police to share information about similar burglaries there.
