Rochester, N.Y. – What do you want to see downtown? A casino, grocery store or performing arts center?

The city is conducting an online survey as part of its effort to update the Center City Master Plan. The plan was last revised in 2002. Since then, Midtown Plaza has been demolished and downtown has seen an influx of residents.

The city is also holding two hearings next month on the master plan, one for residents and one for everyone else.

“Downtown is an unusual place in the six or eight county region because it belongs to everyone,” said Heidi Zimmer-Meyer of Rochester Downtown Development Corporation. “So if we’re talking about a plan that will guide development over the next 10 to 15 years, we need to be sure we’re collectively listening to everybody.”
