what does getting your nails done have to do with a cop getting shot and having a support group?

Maggie Brooks is spending 175 million on a new bus terminal and MCC campus. Plus we may get a new theater some day. Who will want to come in the city if you may get a bullet in the head? The 175 million is needed for more cops, training for these young kids to get them off the street and out of gangs, and cleaning up areas like avenue D. Maggie has just burned up 175 million with no improvement for the rest of the city. It only makes Main Street look nice. The rest of the city is rotting away and full of sewerage.

Soxfan, you do realize that no one goes downtown because there is nothing downtown but ice, right? I used to enjoy midtown as I'm sure many did. I also don't understand how, in one breathe, you condem cityguy for his comments about Kodak, yet make similar ones of your own in the next. Perhaps you SHOULD run for office. One more instance of useless, overpaid, bootychatter in a suit wouldn't hurt. I digress; before I bash you for not doing anything, HAVE you implemented any of the plans you litter the boards with or is it just mindless booty chatter?

soxfan4life- people dont go downtown because there is nothing downtown. So maybe bringing some life would help. Every other city in the world downtown is where you can go to have a good time but not here. And honestly do you think that you are the only one who knows how to go make money?..Please be serious besides that has nothing to do with the topic. Usually the one yelling about how well they do is the one doing poorly. Hey maybe thats not the case with you but it is common. You should run for office if you think you can do better. I would vote for you. If your politics are sound.

The first step is Maggie Brookds and the way we are throwing away money....fast ferry...Marie Slaughter wants a high speed rail to NYC, for what...take a plane( Jet Blue is $50 ). Why do we need a theater downtown...people don't go downtown anymore. And as far as KODAK...I think they should have changed with the times. They are doing fine with movie film but what happens when the industry goes digital. They are out of business all together, the writing has been on the wall for years and people still can't see it. At this point, they have to ride out the wave...the housing market stinks up here. I am not un sympathetic, I just don't sit back and wait for things to happen, you have to make things happen yourself. Everyone has worth, go out and sell it to a potential employer...there is money out there and it won't come to you.

Holy @$$crackers. You guys are HARSH! You would think that a white person was shot. LOL. I keed. But seriously folks, first off, if you respect life, then you respect ALL life. My prayers and sympathy go out to the officers family and the officers that have to patrol these neighborhoods. As for the boy, I think he should be punished swiftly. Killing HIM, however, will do nothing to help abolish this problem. There is a clear breakdown of guidance and parenting structure in his life. For some reason, I doubt he is the ONLY child like this, so a death penalty will solve nothing. It would get another negro off the streets for good, and that's always swell, right? I blame the community for this. Sure, the 14 year old did the act, but you aren't born malicious. Mentally unstable, perhaps. And someone should've been there to redirect him. Unfortunately, as in many cases, there is no one to facilitate such a task. I also pray for the good folks in that community that have a fervent desire to do right and, because of whatever reason, call this area home; those who try to do and live right, but are caught up in circumstances that may be out of their control (similar to those who lost their job at Kodak...OH NO...I likened Kodak to the urban community. May hellfire and brimstone decend upon my head from the posts of the righteous...lol). I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but the prayer team is the ROCHESTER POLICE DEPARTMENT CLERGY RESPONSE TEAM. So, they prayed for the police officer AND the person who shot him. Imagine that. They prayed for the DiPonzi's AND the shooter. It's almost as if..wait for it...waaaaait for it...it's almost as if they understood the tragedy AND the problem and want to fix it instead of solely condem the shooter. It's as if they realize that just killing black folks won't solve the problem. Wow. I'm impressed. Well, stranger things have happened. Oh yeah, one last thing...BLACK PRESIDENT!!! hahahaha. Now. Seriously. Obama's only half black.

chriswithsense- I can see where you are comming from but I still think that we have to have a level of sympathy for our community. What steps can we all take to make things better.

cityguy - I'm not here to argue either, but you have combined my comments with others. I am not advocating to kill this kid, the process should be allowed to occur. But you are missing my original comment. I'm tired of these prayer vigils and 'activists' coming out AFTER the fact. Where have they been? Where were they the night of the drug happenings? If they truly want change be proactive and get out there not wait until the violence happens.

And who says that the people in the community are waiting for a handout. Wow thats a little crazy. As I do recall they prayed for everyone involved in this tragedy but hey we hear what we want to hear. Maybe you and as far as me finding a job lol.. that was funny. Im not worried about that at all. But if neighbor lossed his I would give his family a hand. Would you do the same for yours? Look im not here to fight. You call me ignorant you talk about saving money by killing the suspect lol.. its cheaper to keep him in prison

Nevermind you miss my point Im not here to argue with you at all its not my intention. You stated that you have very little sympathy for the neighborhood. Im simply saying as one my have very little sympathy for the problems that are hurting other people. Absolutly death his alot more serious then loss of life that goes without saying. My point is this if we live in this community I just think that all problems should be adressed with sympathy. We are becomming a very creul society and its only going to get worst if we cant see it
