Rochester, N.Y. – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter spoke exclusively with 13WHAM’s Patrice Walsh while undergoing rehabilitation at Strong Hospital for a broken leg.

Slaughter fell nine days ago at an event in New York City. Slaughter tells 13WHAM News she is feeling good.

“I’m doing fine on everything else. And, actually this [my leg] is doing better than I thought. I am relearning to move without standing on it, “says Slaughter.

Slaughter spoke to 13WHAM News at Strong Hospital where she is going through physical therapy to strengthen the leg she broke. It is a slow recovery process. But she has been working from her hospital room every day.

“I knew I had broken it because it started swelling right away and I couldn’t move,” explains Slaughter.

Slaughter has had to deal with rumors about her health, even reports she was dying. She dismisses any sickness, other than a broken leg.

Slaughter has been recovering at Strong since Saturday. There is no set date for her release.
