Rochester, N.Y. - A golf ball disguised as an ice cream cone?
Wednesday, we got our first look at the newest addition to Rochester’s “Golf Balls on Parade.”
The initiative helps local charities and promotes the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.
Nationally renowned local artist Amie Freling-Brown began work on the Jewish Senior Life golf ball which is being sponsored by Abbott’s Frozen Custard.
The giant fiberglass golf ball was painted to look like an ice cream cone and Freling-Brown will paint the original Abbott’s location in Charlotte on the top. The artist said she was thrilled to be asked to be part of the fundraiser.
Freling-Brown said, “Its final location will be at the Golisano Children’s Hospital and it is very dear to me heart and I love working with the hospital.”
The golf balls will be on parade at different spots across the Greater Rochester area this spring.
The PGA Championship runs August 5 through August 11.
