Man With Criminal Record Arrested For Possessing 60 Guns
Sullivan, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man whose criminal record prohibits him from possessing weapons faces new charges after police seized dozens of firearms at his home.
In the town of Sullivan just east of Syracuse, state police say investigators and troopers executing a search warrant on Wednesday found five handguns and about 60 other assorted rifles and shotguns along with a large amount of ammunition at the home of Edward Atkins Jr., 55.
Atkins, of Kirkville, was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor possession of a weapon for possessing a rifle and having previously been convicted of a felony or serious offense.
He's being held in the county jail on $100,000 cash bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
