Albany, N.Y. (AP) - Governor Andrew Cuomo had planned a photo opportunity in the state's newly acquired plot in the Adirondacks and found himself in a tempest in a frying pan.
The press outing over the weekend at a pond in the Adirondack State Park depicted the Queens native doing what he says he loves to do: Enjoy the mountain wilderness and fishing.
But the event saw Cuomo staving off questions from some reporters about why he didn't wear a life jacket and why he caught a trout that appeared to be too small to keep.
Cuomo joked at the inquiries, but defended his actions. He noted state law doesn't require him to wear a life vest and that he released the brook trout, which was about an inch under the legal limit.
