Ontario County Has Best DWI Conviction Rate in New York

Canandaigua, N.Y. - Ontario County is once again tops in the state when it comes to DWI convictions.

Statistics from the Department of Motor Vehicles show 429 people were convicted of alcohol-related driving charges in 2010. Of those, 381 (91.1%) were convicted of driving while intoxicated. The rest were convicted on a lesser charge, driving while ability impaired.

Yates County had the second-highest convicted-as-charged rate, at 78.1%.

Ontario County has had the highest DWI conviction rate for 26 of the past 27 years.
